Every nine seconds a woman in the United States is assaulted or beaten, often by a partner, close friend, or family member, thus making domestic violence the leading cause of injury to women. Domestic violence includes physical, sexual, emotional, and mental abuse from an intimate or domestic partner, as well as stalking. Because one out of four women will experience some form of domestic or dating violence in her lifetime, raising awareness and promoting prevention is at the forefront of anti-violence initiative campaigns.

 

Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. strives to take action in the community by bringing attention to these issues, especially on college campuses where domestic violence is often present, and raising money for survivors who are often left homeless. The TCNJ Colony of Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. will be dedicated to fighting domestic violence both on our campus and in our community.
